Clean, fresh, and crisp in acidity, Lepa Vida's Sauvignon Blanc pays homage to the local winemaking tradition of producing clean varietal white wines that overtly display their character without appearing too harsh on the nose (as some local Sauvignons tend to do). The wine's aromas are predominantly of yellow citrus fruit such as lemon, grapefruit, with a hint of lime, and herbal notes of freshly cut grass and tomato shoot, along with a light green bell pepper. A boost of salinity suggests Vipava Valley's unique sense of place.

Sauvignon
Sauvignon Blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that originated from Bordeaux, France and is now widely planted all around the world. Its aromatic profile varies depending on the micro-location and climate, with cooler climates producing green notes of tomato leaves and grass, and warmer climates producing a more fruity and tropical aroma of elderflower and passion fruit. In recent years, New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs have gained popularity due to their crisp, elegant, and fresh characteristics.
At Lepa Vida, Sauvignon represents about 20% of all the vines, and we take great care to preserve its delicate aroma from the vineyard into the bottle. It is a wine that demands a lot of attention during fermentation as well as during maturation. Our Sauvignon is fermented in stainless steel tanks and bottled as a single-variety wine, but it is also included in our flagship cuvee MI alongside Malvasia Istriana. At Lepa Vida, we are proud to produce a Sauvignon Blanc that reflects the unique terroir of the Vipava valley and our vineyards.
